Get your Defra API code, and your loads go to Defra by themselves.

Register your organisation with Defra once, copy the code they give you, and paste it into the app. From then on every load you save is sent to Defra for you.

Part B · Before you start

What you need before you start

Already registered? You're not connected yet. Registering ends on a page headed Your Defra account, which looks like the finish. It isn't — the code is three taps further on. Scroll to Action at the bottom of that page, press Manage, then Manage my API code, then Create additional code. Start at step 6 below.
The number in the yellow Contact support ID box is not your API code — that one is for when you ring Defra. Your API code is 36 characters with dashes, like xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx. Not sure the number you have is the right one?

Part C · The steps

Tick them off as you go

Don't skip step 10. Once the £26 is due (the first one by 31 January 2027), Defra refuse loads from an organisation that hasn't paid it, until it's paid. Software providers can't pay it for you.

Stuck?

Defra's helpline is 03000 203 781, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. That is their phone number, not your code: your API code is 36 characters long with dashes in it, like xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx. For anything in the app, email me. Email is the quickest way to reach me — I reply the same working day.
